A door that catches every time you close it can be a small but constant nuisance. I adjust and fit internal doors, cupboard doors and their fittings, looking at what's causing the problem before deciding what needs changing.

The practical bits
Not an exhaustive list. If your job sounds similar, send me a photo and I'll take a look.
A door can start rubbing for several reasons. Timber may swell, a hinge may have dropped, or new flooring may have reduced the clearance underneath. Where it catches matters: along the edge, at the top or across the floor can point to different fixes. I look at the door, frame and fittings together before taking timber off. Planing a door without checking the hinges can miss the real problem.
If it's part of a longer household list, I can look at the other items too; see my small handyman jobs page for the sort of work I take on.
Sometimes easing an edge, adjusting the hinges or rehanging the existing door is all that's needed. If the door itself needs replacing, I can hang a new internal door and fit its handle and latch. I'll need to know about the existing frame and any flooring changes, because a neat fit depends on both. Cupboard and kitchen cabinet doors also need their hinges positioned and adjusted so the gaps look even.
For cabinet doors made to sit with an existing kitchen, have a look at my carpentry work.
When I hang a new internal door, I start by measuring the opening and checking the frame and floor. I trim the door to fit, allowing the right clearance underneath, then cut in and fit the hinges. Once it hangs properly, I fit the latch and handle and check that the door closes cleanly without catching or rattling. The frame and flooring both affect the final fit, so I look at them together rather than relying on the door's stated size alone.
Send photos showing the whole door and frame, the hinge side and the floor underneath. If you've already bought the door, tell me its size too.
A handle that turns loosely or a latch that misses its keep makes a good door frustrating to use. Hinges can also loosen in the timber over time. I can check and sort these smaller fittings, along with minor timber repairs around them, rather than assuming the whole door has to go. A photo of the door closed, another of the hinges and a close-up of the trouble spot are a useful start.

Close to home
I'm based in Stratford-upon-Avon and do this work across nearby towns too:
I also take on jobs in Wellesbourne, Alcester, Henley-in-Arden and Shipston-on-Stour.
Send a photo of the door, the hinges and where it catches – or the opening if it's a new door – and I'll give you an idea of what's involved.
Send job photos on WhatsAppNot necessarily. It may need an adjustment, easing or rehanging. Photos of where it catches and of the hinges will help me understand the problem.
Yes. I can fit or adjust handles, latches and hinges as part of a door job, or look at loose fittings on their own.
Yes. Let me know the size of the door and send a photo of the frame so I can check it'll fit before I come out.
Send me a few photos on WhatsApp with rough sizes and a note about what the door is doing. I'll let you know if I can help and give you an idea of the cost.
