The useful space in a home isn't always a neat rectangle. I make shelves, cupboards and fitted storage for alcoves, sloping ceilings and other places where an off-the-shelf unit leaves too much space unused.

The practical bits
Not an exhaustive list. If your job sounds similar, send me a photo and I'll take a look.
An alcove can take shelves, a low cupboard or a combination of both. The two sides of a chimney breast often look identical until you measure them; walls can bow and corners can be out of square. I work from the actual space, so shelves sit neatly and a cupboard looks like it belongs there. Tell me what you want to store as well as how you'd like it to look: books, larger items and everyday clutter call for different arrangements.
This kind of made-to-fit work sits alongside my other carpentry jobs, including benches and timber details.
Before putting up a shelf, I ask what you plan to keep on it. A shelf for a few photographs needs different support from one carrying heavy books. I choose fixings to suit the wall, whether that's solid brick, plasterboard or old lime plaster, and check for pipes and cables before drilling. I also check the position against the room and get the shelves level, even when the wall itself isn't quite straight. If you have shelves ready to fit, send me a photo of the wall and let me know their size and what weight they'll need to carry.
A loft room or space under the eaves can be hard to furnish with standard wardrobes. Fitted doors and shelving can follow the slope while keeping the usable part of the room clear. The same thinking helps under stairs: an awkward triangular gap might be more useful as cupboards, open cubbies or a bench, depending on access and what needs to go inside.
If you already have freestanding furniture waiting to be put together instead, I also do furniture assembly. It's a different job from building storage to fit the room, so photos will help me understand which you need.
Sometimes a simple set of shelves makes the biggest difference. Slatted shelves can organise an airing cupboard, while a bench can add both a place to sit and somewhere to put things away. Before messaging, photograph the whole area and the corners or slopes that might affect the fit. Rough width, depth and height measurements are useful; they don't have to be perfect at this stage.

Close to home
I'm based in Stratford-upon-Avon and do this work across nearby towns too:
I also take on jobs in Wellesbourne, Alcester, Henley-in-Arden and Shipston-on-Stour.
Photograph the wall or alcove and tell me roughly what you want to store. Rough measurements are plenty to start with.
Send job photos on WhatsAppThat's often the point of making them to fit. Photos and rough measurements help me see the space; accurate measuring comes before anything is made.
Yes, fitted wardrobes and under-eaves storage are among the jobs I take on. Show me the slope and the available floor space in your photos.
Send me a few photos on WhatsApp, rough sizes and a note about what you want to store. I'll let you know if I can help and give you an idea of the cost.
